Step-by-step Guide to Apply for a Duplicate Driving Licence Online

Step 1:Go to the Parivahan Sewa Portal

Step 2:Choose “Services on Driving License”. A new page will open

Step 3: On the new page, choose the state you are residing in from the dropdown menu.

Step 4: On the new page, search for the option "Apply for Duplicate License" and click it.

Step 5: You will be forwarded to the application form. Fill in the details asked for with accuracy.

Step 6: Upload scanned copies of necessary documents, such as FIR copy (if applicable), address proof, identity proof, and passport-sized photographs. Ensure that the documents meet the size and format requirements specified.

Step 7: Make the fee payment using any one of the online modes of payment available

Step 8: After submitting the application, you can check the status on the portal by entering the application or reference number. The portal will show the progress of your application from submission to approval to dispatch.

How to Apply for a Duplicate Driving License Offline?

Step 1: File an FIR (First Information Report) at your local police station

Step 2: Obtain the LLD form from the RTO or download it from their official website.

Step 3: Fill in the details required in the LLD form

Step 4: Attach a copy of the FIR, identity proof documents, address proof documents, and passport-size photographs. Ensure that you have the originals also.

Step 5: Submit the application form along with the documents at the Local RTO, where your original license was issued.

Step 6: Pay the application fee and get the receipt for future reference.

Step 1: Go to the official portal of Parivahan Sewa

Step 2: Search for the option, “Online Services” on the Parivahan portal.

Step 3: From the drop-down menu, select the option ‘Driving Licence Related Services’.A new page will open.

Step 4: Select your state of residence from the drop-down menu

Step 5: Select the option for "Application Status" present on the top right corner of the page and click on it.

Step 6: Enter the required details such as your DL application number, date of birth, and other requested information.

Step 7: Fill in the Captcha code shown on your screen.

Step 8: Click the 'Submit' button and wait for the system to retrieve your application status.

Reasons to Apply For a Duplicate Driving License

  • Loss or theft: If your original driving license has been misplaced or stolen, you will have to apply for a duplicate license to replace it.
