Indane Gas Connection - Overview

Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) has been part of the Indian household for decades now. The introduction of this cooking gas has greatly helped the women of the country but even today there are many areas in the remotest parts of the country that still do not have the benefit of a working gas connection.

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) is one of the three giants in the country that also provides LPG connection to the citizens. IOCL provides LPG under the brand name Indane Gas.

Each year there are multiple new connections being started in the rural part of India to bring them closer to modernization one step at a time. Given below are the details of the new connection of India Gas and the Price list for the same.

What are the various sizes of LPG Cylinders available for Domestic use?

Indane Gas provides LPG Gas cylinders for domestic use as well as commercial or industrial use. The size of the cylinder offered by Indian Gas differs for domestic use and industrial or commercial use.

For domestic use, the size of LPG cylinder available under Indane Gas is,

  • 5 kgs (Chhotu)
  • 14.2 kgs (regular cylinder)

Apart from this Indane gas also provides LPG gas for commercial and industrial use in the form of 19 kg cylinder.

How to get a new connection of Indane Gas?

Indane Gas provides a new connection of LPG easily to the remotest parts of the country at affordable rates. For new connections, the applicant has to visit their nearest Indane Gas centre or Distributor. The applicant can register for the new connection by filing an application for the same and submitting the documents related to identity proof and residential proof of the applicant.

The list of documents acceptable for this purpose is mentioned below.

  • Ration card
  • Utility bills (electricity/ telephone)
  • Passport
  • PAN card
  • Driving License
  • Aadhar Card
  • Voter’s ID
  • Employer’s Certificate
  • Flat allotment/ possession letter
  • House registration papers
  • Rent receipt

It is to be noted that in the state of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, it is mandatory to submit the ration card for a new gas connection.

Applicants can also get a new connection through an online application. The steps to register for a new gas connection online are mentioned below.

  • The first step is to visit the official website of LP Gas Connection (myLPG[dot]in)
  • The next step is to click on ‘Click here to know your LPG Id’ where the applicant will have to select the company name and be redirected to the Indane Gas portal to find LPG ID.
  • After that, the customer will have to click on Register for new connection’ and then after being redirected click on ‘Register for online New connection’ under SAHAJ online.
  • The next step is to click on ‘Register Now/
  • The applicant will have to fill in the details as required to proceed
  • After filling in all the details, the applicant will get an OTP on their registered mobile number which has to be submitted and then the applicant will have to clock on ‘Verify’.
  • The applicant will be asked to set a new password
  • After that, the customer will have to log in using the login credentials and on the main page they will have to click on ‘Submit KYC’.
  • After submitting all the relevant details. They will have to select the distributor from the available list.
  • Customers will then have to choose the general or non-subsidized scheme under ‘select products and after clicking on ‘submit’ they can ‘save and continue’ to the next page.
  • Here the customers will have to submit the KYC documents, fill the form, accept the declaration and submit it.
  • The application is then sent to the distributor and the customer will have to visit the distributor with relevant documents and pay the necessary charges for the new connection.
