Introduction

Mahila Samriddhi Yojana is a Government scheme aimed to benefit the women entrepreneurs from backward backgrounds or poor backgrounds. The scheme was launched as part of the National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Under this scheme, the Government provides micro-finance to the women entrepreneurs either directly or through Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

Eligibility Criteria for Mahila Samriddhi Yojana

The eligible borrowers under the scheme are the women beneficiaries from the poor or below poverty line category or as notified by the Central or State Government from time to time. The eligibility requirements for such women entrepreneurs to be part of this scheme are mentioned below.

  • The minimum age requirement under the scheme is 18 years.
  • The maximum annual family income of the applicant cannot exceed beyond Rs. 3,00,000.
  • The applicants can be part of the SHGs where at least 60% of the members have to be from the Backward Classes and the balance 40% can be from other weaker sections like Physically handicapped women, minorities, SC, ST, etc.

The scheme aims to provide faster and easier access to the financing options to the eligible borrowers. Therefore, the documentation process under MSY is very basic and not a very lengthy process. Majority of the documents required by the lenders are the basic KYC documents. The list of documents to be required along with the duly filled application form is given below.

Quantum of Loan

The loans under this scheme are disbursed through the SHGs or directly to the beneficiaries. The quantum of loans disbursed under the scheme per SHG is up to a maximum of Rs. 15,00,000 and per beneficiary is up to a maximum of Rs. 1,00,000. Also, the underlying condition for SHGs is the maximum number of members to be restricted to 20 per group.

The maximum loan that can be disbursed by the lender is further restricted to a maximum of 95% of the project cost.

Rate of Interest

The rate of interest under this scheme is very nominal as a means to facilitate easy repayment of loans by the borrowers. The pattern of interest charged on loans under the scheme is tabled below.

Tenure

The tenure repayment period of loans or under this scheme is up to a maximum period of 48 months or 4 years. This period is inclusive of the moratorium period of maximum 6 months).

Application Process for loans under Mahila Samriddhi Yojana

The application process for procuring loans under the scheme is detailed on the NBCFDC website. The application form can be availed at the Channel Partners and has to be submitted to the District Office of the Channel Partner where the applicant resides.

The application form has to be duly filled with all the relevant details as well as details of the vocation and training requirements if needed. The applicant will also have to submit all the necessary documents along with the application form in order to complete the application process.

The application can also be submitted online by registering at the NBCFDC website. The application will then be forwarded to the concerned channel partner of the State/District that the applicant resides in. The channel partner will then contact the applicant for further details related to the application process.
