Recommendations For Pension Fixation By The 7th Pay Commission

If you have retired before January 1, 2016, the 7th Pay Commission impacts not only your salary but also your pension. The Commission has provided two pension fixation formulations - One for those who retired before 2016 and the other for those who retired after 2006. The initial calculation of pension fixation may take some time as the pensioners’ records should be authenticated to find out the number of times they have earned increments in the retiring levels.

  • All civilian personnel, including those employed by the Central Armed Police Forces, who retired prior to January 1, 2016 will be changed in the Pay Matrix after advocacy from the commission.
  • Pension fixation will depend on the grade pay and pay band of the personnel at the time of their retirement.
  • To fix the retiree’s notional pay, the amount will be hiked by adding the number of increments the individual has earned at the particular level while serving the forces.
  • The rate of addition of increments is 3%
  • 50% of the final amount calculated will be the personnel's revised pension.
  • According to the second formulation, the pension which was fixed during the 6th Central Pay Commission's recommendations will be multiplied into 2.57 to determine the revised pension's alternative value.
