A credit score is a three digit number that ranges from 300 to 900. This credit score is calculated using the information in your credit report, which includes your credit history, your credit card bill payments, the debt you might have, regularity of your EMI payments. Taking all of your payment histories into consideration, your credit score is generated. There are different scoring models which are used to calculate your credit score. So you cannot expect your credit score to be the same wherever you check it.

Credit scores that are above 750 is considered to be a good credit score. A higher credit score indicates that you had a good credit behaviour in the past. This will make lenders and creditors more confident while taking a decision of whether to approve your loan or not. People with credit scores between 580 to 669 might find it difficult to qualify for better loans. Lower scores that are under 580 fall under the poor credit score category and these people will face loan rejections.

How to maintain a good credit score?

  • Try to pay all your bills on time which just doesn’t include your credit card bill but also your cell phone bills as any bill default might be reported to the credit bureau and this might bring down your credit score
