Device requirement

UPI123 is introduced to serve the population without smartphones. Hence feature phones are sufficient to use UPI123 except SCAN and PAY feature.

UPI Lite can only be used on smartphones

Connectivity

UPI123 does not require internet connectivity. The entire process can be done through normal phone calls.

This is an offline wallet. Users can use UPI lite without the internet.

Transaction limit

There is no limit on the transaction amount.

Users can perform low-value payments up to Rs 200

Balance limit

UPI123 is directly linked to your bank account. There is no limit on the balances except that the minimum balance must be maintained as per your bank.

The maximum amount that can be kept in a UPI Lite wallet at any time is Rs 2,000

How does it work?

Payment through UPI123 is done through

· Pre-defined IVR numbers

· Missed call to predefined numbers

· Collaboration with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) to enable UPI123

·  Sound-based technology

 

UPI Lite is an offline on-device wallet.

· Add money to the UPI Lite wallet from your bank account.

·  The payments (debits) are done offline and the receipts (credits) are done online.
