Channels to Contact the Customer Care Service of Personal Loan Providers

Personal loans are one of the major credit facilities offered by banks and other NBFCs (Non-Banking Financial Corporations). A personal loan is generally an unsecured loan. The loan applicant doesn’t have to provide any collateral or security to avail the loan. The process is quick, hassle-free and involves minimal documentation.

Yet, a borrower is bound to have plenty of queries before availing the loan. To make it easy for prospective borrowers, loan providers offer an easy to use customer care service. However, it's highly recommended the customers check the FAQ section of the bank's website before contacting the customer care team. The FAQ section has detailed answers to all standard personal loan related queries like – eligibility criteria, terms and conditions, interest rates and charges, required documentation, loan application process and more.

If you are unable to find the required answers in the FAQ section, you can connect with the customer care department of the loan provider using the following channels.

  • Helpline numbers – Most loan providers offer toll-free helpline numbers that make it easy for existing borrowers and new borrowers to connect with the customer care team. The toll-free helpline numbers can be accessed pan-India and from both landlines and mobiles.

*Customers have to make sure that they are using the correct helpline number to eliminate risks of fraud. Scroll to the top of the page to find the updated toll-free personal loan customer care numbers for leading loan providers in India.

  • Email ID – Alternatively, customers can also write in their queries, complaints and feedback by sending an email to the customer care department. Make sure to mention your loan account number or customer ID, if you are an existing customer for a speedy resolution of your queries.
  • Online Chat/Virtual Assistant – Most banks today offer an online chat or virtual assistant facility to help customers resolve their queries instantly.
  • Visit the Bank – Customers are welcome to drop into their nearest branch and speak with a loan officer to get more information about personal loans.

Write to the Bank – Even in today's digital age, customers can send in their queries, complaints or feedback in written form to the bank.

Grievance Redressal for Personal Loan-Related Queries

If borrowers have any complaints or issues with the customer service department, they take the following steps to get the issue resolved.

Level 1: File a Complaint at the Home Branch

If customers are not satisfied with the resolution of the complaint by the customer care team, they can visit their home branch to get the issue addressed. Most banks allow borrowers to meet the Branch Manager for any complaints or feedback during working hours. Some banks also have specific “Customer Days,” which usually falls around on the 15th of every month, when customers can meet the top officials and executives of the bank. Different banks have varying time schedules within which they resolve customer complaints.

Level 2: Approach the Grievance Redressal Officer

If the resolution offered in Level 1 was not up to the satisfaction of the customer, he/she could escalate the issue further to the Grievance Redressal Officer of the bank. Customers can connect with the Grievance Redressal Officer using any of the following channels:

  • Telephone
  • Email
  • Writing to the bank

*You can find the contact details of the Grievance Redressal Officer by visiting the website of your loan provider. Make sure to share details of the previous complaint made like the complaint number, any replies from the bank and other information at this stage, for speedier resolution of your query.

Level 3: Contact Nodal Officers

If the resolution offered in Level 2 is not up to your satisfaction, you can approach the Principal Nodal Officer of the bank using any of the following channels:

  • Telephone
  • Email
  • Writing to the bank

Level 4: Avail the Service of the Banking Ombudsman

If the issue remains unresolved even after taking the above steps, customers can get in touch with the Banking Ombudsman service offered by the RBI (Reserve Bank of India). If the customer has not received a response from the bank after thirty days of filing the complaint, he/she can reach out to the Banking Ombudsman for escalation of the issue. Click here to submit an online complaint with the Banking Ombudsman.

FAQ

1. What is the best way to contact a bank’s customer care department?

Calling them through the phone is the easiest and quickest way to contact a bank’s customer care department. You can find the customer care number of all leading banks here on Creditmantri.

2. How to apply for a personal loan from any bank?

Personal loans can be easily applied online on the bank’s website. Here are the most popular banks offering the best personal loan in India.

3. What is the credit score required to apply for a personal loan?

Credit score is an important parameter to apply for a personal loan. A credit score of 750 and above is considered ideal to get the best interest rate and repayment terms on a personal loan. Check your credit score on Creditmantri and get a detailed analysis of your credit report now!

4. Can I get a personal loan with a credit score of 650?

650 is not a bad credit score but it is difficult to get a good personal with such a low score. The interest rate may be pretty high for such a low score. Here are some simple ways to improve your credit score before you apply for a personal loan.

5. Is there any restriction on how I use my personal loan amount?

Apart from speculative purposes, like investing in stocks and shares, you are free to use your personal loan amount for any purpose as you need.

6. Can I pre-close my personal loan earlier than the total tenure?

Yes, you can very much pre-close your personal loan. But banks require you to pay a minimum of 12 EMIs before they allow you to pre-close. Also, they would levy a pre-closure charge of around 2-5% on the outstanding amount. So you need to check whether it is really beneficial to pre-close the loan or just continue with the EMIs till the term ends.

7. Credit card cash withdrawal VS personal loans; which is better?

Personal loans are definitely better because the interest rate on credit card cash withdrawal is very high, at around 30-40% p.a. Also, you can withdraw cash only up to the withdrawal limit on your credit card. But you can get personal loans of up to 30 times your monthly net income.

8. How to find out how much personal loan I am eligible to get?

Use CreditMantri’s Personal Loan Eligibility Calculator to find your personal loan eligibility. Usually, banks offer around 20-30 times your monthly net income as personal loan.

9. Can I get a personal loan towards the down-payment of a new home?

Yes, you can use your personal loan amount to pay the down-payment for a new home.

10. What is the average interest rate on personal loans?

The current interest rate on personal loans is around 9% – 16% p.a.
