Udyam Registration Certificate

An Udyam Registration certificate is an e-certificate issued upon completing the MSME registration process. The Udyam Registration Portal is a new and improved tech system, which is the first of its kind. It was launched by the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises to strengthen and facilitate MSME growth in India and provide all the required support to MSMEs across the board. Udyam Registration

An Udyam Registration also called as MSME registration consists of a government sign-off given along with a recognition certificate and a unique number. This is necessary to certify that your small and medium businesses or enterprises are legal or operational. For smaller business enterprises, the Udyam registration takes place under the Ministry of MSME, GOI.

The terms, MSME Registration/Udyog Aadhaar belong to the old registration system where a UAM Number was generated for confirmation. The MSME Registration/Udyog Aadhar has been migrated to the new system called Udyam Registration effective from 1st July 2020. It is mandatory to migrate to Udyam Registration even if you already have an MSME Registration. Generally, it takes around 1 to 2 weeks to generate the Udyam Certificate after generating your Udyam Registration Number.

1. You must register only on a government portal.

2. A government portal or website will mostly have .gov.in in the URL.

3. The portal/site will also have (MSME) Ministry or Mantralay written on it

4. The Udyam Registration process is 100% online.

5. A permanent identification number identified as the ‘Udyam Registration Number’ will be issued post-registration.

6. An e-certificate called the ‘Udyam Registration Certificate’ will be issued after registration. This certificate will contain a dynamic QR code. The web page on the government portal and details about the enterprise can be accessed using this code.

7. There is no need for the renewal of registration.

8. Registration process is totally free. No costs or fees are to be paid to anyone.

9. There is a set of eligibility criteria that you have to fulfill to fall into the category of medium, small or micro-enterprise and for obtaining MSME registration.

Things To Be Followed For Udyam Registration

  • The MSME registration process is fully paperless, online, and based on self-declaration.
  • No documents or proofs are needed for registering an MSME.
  • The Aadhaar number alone is sufficient for registration.
  • Details linked to PAN and GST on investment and turnover of enterprises will be taken automatically from government databases.
  • PAN and GSTIN as per the applicability of CGST Act 2017 and as notified by the ministry of MSME should be there for Udyam Registration effective from 01.04.2021
  • The online system will fully be integrated with income tax and GSTIN systems.
  • Those who have UAM registration, EM-II, or any other registration issued by any authority under the Ministry of MSME will have to re-register themselves.
  • No enterprise is entitled to file more than one Udyam Registration. However, multiple activities including service or manufacturing or both can be specified or added in one registration.

More About The Udyam Registration Process

  • The form for registration must be as given in the Udyam Registration portal.
  • Filing for the Udyam registration does not require any fee.
  • You require the Aadhaar number for Udyam Registration.
  • The Aadhaar number must be that of the managing partner in the case of a partnership firm, proprietor in the case of a proprietorship firm, and of a karta when it comes to a Hindu Undivided Family (HUF).
  • In the case of a company, a limited liability partnership, a cooperative society, a society, or a trust, the organization or its authorized signatory will give its GSTIN and PAN along with its Aadhaar number.
  • If an enterprise is registered as an Udyam with PAN, lack of information for earlier years when it did not have a PAN can be self-declared.
  • No enterprise shall file over one Udyam Registration provided that multiple activities including manufacturing or service or both may be specified or added in one Udyam Registration.
  • Whoever wilfully gives false information or does not reveal the self-declared facts and figures appearing in the Udyam Registration or updation process shall be subject to such penalty as specified under section 27 of the Act.

For Existing Enterprises

  • All existing enterprises registered under UAM or EM - Part - II shall register again on the Udyam registration site. This has been effective from the first day of July, 2020.
  • All enterprises registered till 30th June 2020 shall be recategorized in accordance with this notification.
  • An enterprise already registered with any other organization under the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises shall register itself under Udyam Registration.
