How To Register in ICEGATE?

  • Visit the new ICEGATE portal.
  • Click on “Services” from the top menu and “Registration” and then “Click here for Registration on ICEGATE”.
  • Click on “Register Now” under New to ICEGATE.
  • Provide an ICEGATE id with a maximum of 25 alphanumeric characters which should not contain any spaces, or any special characters other than “-” and “_”.
  • Provide a valid email id and check the availability of the user id.
  • Key in your GSTIN, and IEC and verify the same.
  • Provide all the business details required and finish the registration form.
  • Use your login ID and provide the temporary password sent to the mail.
  • Enter the mobile and email OTP received and finish the registration.

What Is A Bill Of Entry?

A Bill of entry is a legal document required to be generated on or before importing goods. It is required to claim Input Tax Credit (ITC) while filing GST returns. The bill of entry is generated by importers or custom house agents either for home consumption or for bond clearance. It must be submitted to the customs department for clearance of goods from the port. The customs officer verifies the goods using the bill of entry and the clearance is done after the importer pays the basic customs duty, IGST, and compensation cess.

The Customs House Agents (CHA) appointed on behalf of the importers prepare the Bill of Entry. The broad contents of the Bill of Entry include
