American Express allows 20% of the credit card limit as the cash withdrawal limit. This set limit can vary from time to time and any revisions are communicated to the credit cardholder.

A credit card limit of Rs. 2,00,000 means a cash withdrawal limit of Rs. 40,000 provided that the limit is 20%. Customers can apply for an increase in their credit limit after 6 months of using the credit card.

A transaction fee is imposed on the credit card user on every cash withdrawal. American Express charges 3.5% of the advanced cash amount. Higher withdrawal amount necessitates higher cash advance fees.
