Downloading and using the Citi Mobile App

You can access Citibank mobile banking either through your mobile browser or through the Citi Mobile app.

Citibank SMS Banking

Citibank SMS Banking feature is called ‘Instant Assist’. This is handy when you don’t have a smartphone or an internet connection. Citibank SMS Banking allows you to perform basic banking transactions like check your bank account balance, get a One-time password (OTP), check Reward Points, request for a checkbook, etc.

You have to send the corresponding keyword followed by a space and the last four digits of your Debit / Credit Card number. For instance, if you want to fetch the payment due date on your Credit Card and if the last four digits of your Credit Card number are 8656, the content of the SMS to 52484/+919880752484 should be STMT 8656.

Users have to type in the keywords and send it to 52484 or +919880752484

1. What do I need to access account/card information using SMS Banking?

To use SMS Banking service, you need:

  • A Citibank Debit or Credit Card number
  • A Mobile number registered with Citibank

2. What are the charges for using SMS Banking service?

SMS Banking service is free of charge to all customers. However, any SMS to 52484/+919880752484 may be charged by your mobile operator.

3. I don’t have an iPhone or Android. Can I still access Citi Mobile?

Users who do not have IPhone or android based phones, can still access key Citi mobile functionalities via mobile website by visiting "m.citibank.co.in" on their mobile phone browser. They can still transfer funds, pay bills, recharge e-wallets and much more.

4. What if I forget my User Id or Internet Password (IPIN)?

In case you forgot your User Id or internet password (IPIN), you can generate it again instantly, via Citi Mobile App, by clicking on the corresponding "Forget User ID or Password" link on Citi Mobile home screen.

5. If I don’t use the service for a period of time, will my Citi Mobile App be deactivated by the Bank?

No, your Citi Mobile account will never be deactivated for non-usage. However, there are some security related checks present if you do not login for a long time:

  • In case you do not login to Citi mobile or Citibank online for 180 days, your IPIN is locked for security reasons. You can reset your IPIN via desktop/mobile to continue to login again.
  • Further, for enhanced security on Citi Mobile app, if you do not login to Citi Mobile for 30 days, an OTP validation will be required when you subsequently login to Citi Mobile.

6. How secure is Citi Mobile?

Citi Mobile offers you the best in class security:

  • All your information is 128-bit SSL encrypted.
  • Only you can access your account, by using your Citibank User Id and your confidential IPIN.
  • All card and account numbers or other sensitive information is masked on Citi Mobile.
  • If IPIN (Internet Password) is entered incorrectly for six consecutive times, Citi Mobile will block the usage of your IPIN for security.
  • As an enhanced security measure, a one-time OTP authentication will be done on your first login to Citi Mobile app. This validation is done to avoid any unauthorized login from other mobile devices. Additionally, in case we detect a login with your user ID on a new device, you will immediately receive an SMS/Email intimation.
  • You will also receive alerts in case of login attempt from a device which is Jailbroken/rooted state.

7. What if I change my mobile phone device?

In case you have a new mobile device, you will have to download the app again on the new device to use it. However, as an enhanced security, you will have to authenticate yourself with OTP on first time login on the new device.
