HSBC Mobile Banking Security Features

HSBC India Mobile Banking app uses the same security features as Personal Internet Banking. The app does not store your data, including log on details, in the app or SIM card. The log on the verification process is done directly on the HSBC system so that your transactions are secure.

Key security features

  • Security Device (issued on HSBC Internet Banking): This is a security code generating device given to HSBC Bank customers. A security code generated by the Security Device is required to perform select banking transactions.
  • Encryption: The best-in-class Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Encryption encrypts your personal information so that your HSBC Mobile Banking sessions are secure and protected.
  • Session timeout: Session logs off automatically if the app remains inactive for 15 minutes or if you forget to log off

1. What are the devices supporting the HSBC India Mobile Banking App?

The HSBC India app works on both Android and Apple devices. It depends on which version of the app you have. Version 2.20 and below: iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch with iOS version 10.3 or above Mobile handsets with Android OS version 5.0 or above. Android tablets with Android OS version 5.0 or above and a display screen size of 7" or larger From version 2.21 iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch with iOS version 12 or above. 2. How do I login to the Mobile Banking facility?

You can login to Mobile Banking through the logon icon, by using your Personal Internet Banking user ID, your primary password and your secondary password or security device.

3. Can I view my HSBC accounts in other geographies on the HSBC Mobile Banking app?

Yes, you can view your HSBC accounts in other geographies on the HSBC Mobile Banking app under the “Global” tab provided you have registered them on Internet Banking. However, you will not be able to transfer funds between these accounts on Mobile Banking. You can do that only through Internet Banking.

4. How do I send a message to the customer support through Mobile Banking?

You can send a message to the bank through the ‘Bank Mail’ option under the ‘messages’ menu of the mobile banking app. Please note that sending this email to the bank will require Security Device re-authentication.

5. Which functionalities will require a Security Token or Transaction Data Signing through Mobile Banking?

The following transactions conducted on Mobile Banking will need the security device for Transaction Data Signing. The Security Device allows re-authenticating transactions using a combination of the beneficiary account number and the 6-digit security code generated on the device.
