The PAN card is an important document in India. It is issued by the income tax department and serves as an identity proof. It contains your PAN number, which is a unique identity number, full name, date of birth, photograph, and the cardholder’s signature. It is essential for filing taxes and tracking financial transactions. Since it is very crucial, it is mandatory to have your details updated on the card. Let us now see how to change the mobile number in the PAN card both online and offline. 

Steps To Register Your Mobile Number On Your PAN Card

Before you update your mobile number on your PAN card, you have to register it. So, if you have not registered your mobile number, follow the steps below to do so. 

Step 1: Visit official income tax portal

Step 2: Choose the option ‘Register’ on the homepage. 

Step 3: Choose the option ‘Change PAN card mobile number’ 

Step 4: Click continue after selecting the user type as ‘Individual’

Step 5: Select new registration and change PAN mobile number. 

Step 6: Type in your PAN card number, last name, and date of birth. Click on Resident to proceed further. 

Step 7: Type in your primary mobile number 

Step 8: You can also add a secondary mobile number and email address. 

Step 9: An OTP will be sent to your mobile number and email address for authentication.

Step 10: Enter the OTP for confirmation. 

Step 11: Your phone number will be registered successfully, and the mobile number will be updated automatically on the PAN card.

Steps To Change The Mobile Number in PAN Card Online?

If you are a registered user, you can follow the steps below to change the mobile number on the PAN card. 

Step 1: Go to the official website of IT

Step 2: Click ‘Login’

Step 3: Enter the user ID and password

Step 4: Go to the ‘My Profile’ section in the menu

Step 5: Choose the ‘Profile Settings’

Step 6: Navigate to the section that contains your contact details and click the edit button. 

Step 7: Enter your new mobile number. 

Step 8:  An OTP will be dispatched to your new mobile number and email ID.

Step 9: Enter the OTP to authenticate.

Step 10: Your mobile number field will be updated with the new number on your PAN card.

Steps To Change Mobile Number in PAN Card Offline

Step 1:  Visit the official portal of NSDL e-Gov (Protean)

Step 2:  From the menu, go to ‘Downloads’

Step 3:  Click the PAN card request form on the official website of NSDL. 

Step 4: Download the form and complete it using black ink

Step 5: Submit the necessary documents along with the application form. These include identity proof, address proof, and most recent passport size photos. 

Step 6: Find the nearest PAN card centre and pay the application fees. Submit your application form along with the documents. 

Step 7: Once the application is verified, the mobile number will be updated on the PAN card.
