Applying for a Duplicate PAN Card: Step-by-Step Process

Step 1: Go to the site of NSDL Protean PAN or UTIITSL PAN.

Step 2: In the Protean PAN site, locate the link for Services and select PAN from the options given. Select the option of Reprint of PAN Card.

Step3: If applying via the UTIITSL portal, select Facility for Reprint of PAN Card.

Step 3: Enter the relevant details like PAN number, Date of Birth and Aadhaar card number and submit it.

Step 4: Once the details that you enter matches with the information as per the records, you will be directed to make the payment for reprint of PAN card.

Step 1: Visit the Govt of India Income Tax Department online portal

Step 3: Provide the details like Name, Father's Name and Date of Birth.

If you have lost your PAN card and if any of the details like mobile number, email address or address are not as per the current one, then it is required to correct it. Follow the below steps to apply for corrections:

PAN Card Update Via NSDL e-Gov (Protean) Portal

Step 1: Visit the Protean official website and select 'PAN' under Services.

Step 2: Click on "Apply" under 'Change/Correction in PAN Data'.

Step 3: Fill out the online application – select the appropriate application type and category.

Step 4: Enter personal details like name, date of birth, address etc. as per your current status and submit. You will receive a token number which can be used to access the draft application in case of a time-out.

Step 5: Click on the option to continue with the PAN Application Form.

Step 6: You will be provided with 3 options – 1. to submit all documents digitally through e-KYC and e-sign, 2. To submit scanned images through e-sign and 3. Submit application documents physically.

Step 7: Select the option of Yes to receive a new physical PAN card. If you select No, the data will be corrected, but no physical card will be sent to you.

Step 8: Fill in additional details and tick the relevant box where the update is required.

Step 9:  Update your address and proceed to the next page.

Step 10: Upload and attach the necessary documents as proof of your address, identity, age and your photograph.

Step 11: Submit the declaration, and Aadhaar details and make the payment to receive the payment confirmation.

Step 12: Complete the e-sign process, authenticate it using the OTP received on your mobile, and submit the online PAN application form. 

Step 13: Proceed with e-KYC verification, enter your Aadhaar number to complete the Aadhaar-based e-sign. You need to have the phone number registered with your Aadhaar for completing this as the OTP for e-sign will be sent to that number.

Step 14: You can now download the acknowledgment form which can be opened with a password, which is your date of birth in DD/MM/YYYY format.

PAN Card Update Through UTIITSL Portal

Step 1: Visit the UTIITSL website and navigate to PAN Card Services.

Step 2: Select Apply and then 'Change/Correction in PAN Card'. Select Apply for Change/ Correction in PAN Card details in the new window.

Step 4: Enter the details requested like name, address, and other details.
