About Reschedule Passport Appointment

Scheduling an appointment for your passport interview at the PSK is an important step in the passport application process. This is done post application submission and payment of the passport fees. It can be done online through your passport portal login.

A passport for persons traveling to other countries is an essential identity document. Before issuing a passport, intensified scrutiny is carried out regarding the identity of the applicant. A host of documents must be submitted by the applicant to establish his name, address, age and other eligibility needed for obtaining a passport.

For both Fresh and Reissue, passports are issued in multiple categories. Special categories such as Diplomat Passports, J&K or Nagaland residents, Minor Passports, Indian citizens other than by birth, are also available, and several such categories are present. Then, due to different factors such as changing of name, change of address, renewal, name correction and many more, there is re-issue of passport.

By visiting the official website of the Seva Kendra Passport, passport applicants can now apply for an Indian passport online. They can fill in the required form and, if necessary, upload it online along with a valid ID and address proof, as well as an affidavit in the form of Annex-I. Applicants must pay the processing fee after sending the form and the documentation to pick a suitable date and time slot for the appointment at the nearest Seva Kendra Passport.

If, however, an applicant has already selected an appointment slot but wishes for different reasons to cancel or delay it, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to change it.

How to reschedule passport application appointment?

  • Visit the official Passport Seva Kendra Portal
  • Login with your credentials
  • Now, click on the ‘Schedule Appointment’ option under the ‘View Saved/Submitted Applications’ tab
  • Click the Reschedule appointment/Appointment cancellation tab. A confirmation message is displayed indicating the number of reschedule/cancel attempts left.
  • When the appointment has been rescheduled, pick the desired PSK and press the Next button.
  • Click the Book Appointment button after reviewing the available appointment date shown on the PSK. For the chosen PSK, an appointment (if available) is booked automatically and the previously booked ARN appointment is automatically cancelled.
  • The Appointment Confirmation screen is shown with the Print Application Receipt button. You can print your appointment confirmation receipt from here.

Points to Note: An applicant can cancel or reschedule their appointment only twice during a year. If you have exceeded your two times limit, you have to apply for a fresh passport application and pay the whole fees again. Also, cancelling and rescheduling your passport many times may raise questions about your intentions.

What are the charges for rescheduling or cancelling a passport application appointment?

The Passport Authority allows 2 rescheduling or cancelling chances in a period of 12 months. This can be done free of cost. However, if you exceed this 2-times limit, your application will be totally cancelled and you have to resubmit a fresh passport application and pay the full fees. The previous fees you paid shall not be refunded. Hence, it is important to make sure that you make an appointment on a convenient date and time and keep up the appointment.
