How To Change The Address on Your Passport?
Step 1: Visit the online portal called Passport Seva.
Step 2: Log in with your credentials - Username and password if you are an existing user else register first.
Step 3: Enter the requested information like your date of birth and name. Then, choose the passport seva office nearest to you.
Step 4: You will get an email on your registered email ID. It will contain an activation link.
Step 5: Click that link and then navigate to the section “Apply for Fresh Passport/Reissue of Passport”.
Step 6: Enter the changed address and schedule an appointment.
Step 7: Go to the selected Passport Seva Kendra according to your appointment for verification.
Step 8: After completing the process, the authorities will send your updated passport through mail.
What Are The Documents Required To Change The Address in Passport?
The following documents are required to be submitted for changing the address on the passport.
- Original passport of the applicant
- Copy of the payment receipt or challan
- A copy of the online application
- A self-attested reproduction of the first two and last two pages.
- Self-attested copy of the Emigration Check Required (ECR)/Non-ECR page.
- Self-attested copy of the validity extension page if the passport has a short validity period.

To change the address on the passport, you have to renew it afresh. So, the application fee required for address change is the same as renewal fee for the passport. The fee may vary according to the purpose (For instance - The fee differs for the replacement of the passport if lost, damaged, or stolen and new passport or reissue of passport), the number of pages in the booklet, and the type of application such as whether normal or Tatkal.
