As a vehicle owner in India, there are certain documents that you have to carry with you when you are driving. What Is The Duplicate RC?

The duplicate RC is a replica of the original RC given to a vehicle owner for a specific vehicle that has been registered with a regional transport office (RTO). When a registration certificate of a vehicle is reported to be lost or damaged, a duplicate registration certificate is issued to the registered owner on reapplication.

To get a duplicate RC, you have to report to the police station in the jurisdiction of which the loss has occurred. You have to convey the fact in writing to the registering authority that has issued the certificate of registration. You have to apply for a duplicate certificate of registration to the last registered authority in Form 26. Then, pay the appropriate fee as specified in Rule 81 of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989.
