Introduction to the Fund
Established under the Indian Trust Act (1982) when Mutual Funds first emerged as a financial product in the year 1996, Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund is among the earliest mutual funds in India. The fund is owned by Templeton Worldwide and sponsored by Templeton International Inc. The company provides a range of investment instruments and financial products not only in India but also around the globe.

With 70 years of experience operating in 34 countries, Franklin Templeton has a wide variety of mutual funds in the equity, fixed income, and hybrid categories. The broad categories are as under -
The scheme was put together with the primary objective of generating a steady income for investors with the secondary goal of long-term gains. The Franklin India Dynamic Accrual Fund invests 80% assets in debt instruments to generate a steady flow of income and 20% in equities with the aim of earning long-term gains.
Debt instruments including Corporate Debt, PSU Bonds, Gilts and Securitized debts
Money Market Instruments & Cash & Deposits (including Money at Call, MIBOR linked Instruments and Fixed Deposits
3% if redeemed within 12 months from the date of allotment
2% if redeemed after 12 months but within 24 months from the date of allotment
1% if redeemed after 24 months but within 36 months from the date of allotment
0.50% if redeemed after 36 months but within 48 months from the date of allotment
This is an open-ended hybrid scheme investing in both equity as well as debt. The scheme provides regular income as well as long-term appreciation.

Money Market Instruments
2% if redeemed after 12 months but within 18 months from the date of allotment

Funds are allocated in T-Bills (Treasury Bills) along with debt and market instruments. The objective is to provide a steady flow of income side by side with market appreciation.

This plan is available both under the dividend as well as growth options, giving the investor a chance to opt for either regular income – dividend – or long-term gain. Investors can also elect to receive dividend monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, or annually.
Debentures and Bonds issued by Public Sector Units and other Fixed Income Instruments
The Franklin Government Securities Fund is a risk-free fund that invests solely in central and state government securities ensuring a moderate but regular income for investors. These securities unconditionally guarantee return on investment to the fund and through that to the investor. The scheme is beneficial to those with a low risk appetite and looking for a regular income.
Securities issued by the Central/ State Government and/or securities unconditionally guaranteed by the Central/ State Government for repayment of principal and interest
Money market instruments and securities held under reverse repos

The fund in the Franklin Short Term Income plan is invested in fixed income and money market securities with a view to earning a stable income. It is good for those with a moderate risk appetite and looking for regular income as well as capital appreciation.

The Franklin India Savings Plus fund offers investors a consistent income by investing in floating, fixed, and swaps rate debt instruments as well as money market instruments.
Fixed Rate debt instruments (Money and non-money market instruments)
This is an open-ended income scheme that offers investors a chance to earn a regular income by investing primarily in high rated debt instruments that offer an assured return.
Debt including Corporate Debt, PSU Bonds, Gilts and Securitized Debt
The funds under the Franklin India Monthly Income Plan are divided in the ratio of 80:20 with 80% being invested in high end fixed income securities and 20% invested in equities. The scheme aims to provide investors with an assured regular monthly income as well as capital appreciation. It is an open-ended scheme and investors are free to invest as and when they have funds.
The Treasury Management Account by Franklin India invests in super institutional plans. The plan offers both growth and dividend options. Under the growth option dividend is reinvested daily. The plan is available for direct purchase from fund managers.
The Ultra Short Bond is a unique plan that invests solely in government securities and securitized debt. Up to 50% of the fund is invested in foreign securities and the remaining in indigenous securities. The scheme is unique in that it invests in foreign as well as domestic securities and offers a slightly higher yet assured income to investors.

On the official website, the application form along with other documents such as Scheme Information Document (SID) are available for download.
You will need the following documents to make an investment in Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund –
1. Application for duly filled and signed
2. Proof of identity such as PAN, Aadhar, Driving license, or passport
3. Proof of address such as Aadhar, ration card, passport, utility bills, rent agreement or property ownership papers.
4. KYC form duly filled and signed
5. If investment is in the name of a minor, a third-party declaration is required.
1. I have opened an online account. How long will my password be valid?
Your login password is valid for a period of 180 working days. After this period, you will receive a message requesting you to change your password. The message is flashed at the time of login attempt.
2. How do I transact online?
Log into the Franklin Templeton website using your user name and password then hit “My Transaction”. Select the type of transaction and proceed as directed.
3. I am relocating and want to update my address; can I do this online?
For security reasons address or bank details cannot be changed through the website. You must submit a written request along with supporting documents to the OPA or fund manager.
4. Are there any charges that are applicable for transacting via SMS?
Franklin Templeton does not charge for SMS transactions. However, the investor’s telecom service provider may apply a charge as applicable to the plan selected.
