Is your Credit Score >750?
Have you ever made changes to your KYC details stored in your Aadhaar card? If yes, then you can track all the updates made to your Aadhaar number since its generation quite easily. Here, in this guide, we give you step-by-step instructions on how to view your Aadhaar update history and why it matters.
In July of 2018, UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) sent a tweet saying that Aadhaar users who have registered their mobile numbers could check their Aadhaar update history online.
How to check Aadhaar update history
As you probably know, Aadhaar is a 12-digit personal identification number issued by the UIDAI to all Indian citizens and Indian residents. The update history shows all updates made to the data stored in the Aadhaar number, since its generation.
Aadhaar number holders can make several updates to their data like – changing the address, mobile number, email id, date of birth, and gender. Users can track and monitor these changes by logging into the official website of UIDAI.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you:
Head to the official website of UIDAI –www.uidai.gov.in
Click on My Aadhaar Update your Aadhaar Aadhaar update history.
Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number or VID (if you have generated it). Enter the security code displayed. If you are not able to understand the code, you can click on the “Try Another” option to generate a new code.
Click on send OTP to receive the one-time-password on your registered mobile number. Or you can click on TOTP to generate it using the mAadhaar app.
Enter the OTP and click submit. Note that the OTP is valid only for ten minutes, after which you will have to generate a new OTP.
Once you click on submit, you will be able to get the history of updates made to your Aadhaar card.
Here are the details that you can check using the Aadhaar update history service.
URN (Update Request Number)
It is a unique number that is assigned to each Aadhaar cardholder. The URN is generated every time you request an update. To give an example, if you have placed a request to update your mobile number, you will be assigned a URN. Similarly, when you update your address, you will receive another URN. Using the URN, you can track the status of the update.
Date of Update
It is the date when you have placed the request for updates to your Aadhaar number.
Type of Update
It can be any of the following: new Aadhaar update request, biometric or demographic
Photo of the cardholder
While checking your Aadhaar update history, the photo that was taken at the time of Aadhaar card generation is displayed on the screen to confirm your identity.
All demographic details stored in your card are listed on the screen. This includes your name, date of birth, gender, contact number, email id, and address.
Date and Time
You can see the date and time when you have checked the Aadhaar update history is also displayed on the screen.
You can verify and confirm that there are no inaccuracies in the data stored in your Aadhaar card. If you come across any wrong information or spelling errors, report it to UIDAI immediately to rectify it.
