The Government of India made it mandatory for the citizens of India to link the Aadhaar to many government services. Since then Aadhaar has become one of the major identities of the residents. One of the services that have been made mandatory to link with Aadhaar is the Employees Provident Fund (EPF). One of the major benefits of the linking Aadhaar with EPF is, it will speed up the claim settlement process. As per the Employees Provident Fund Organization, if you are an employee who is making a contribution to the provident fund you need to have a UAN number. This number is compulsory when you plan to make a claim. As per the new rule, you will have to link your UAN number to Aadhaar.

UAN or Universal Account Number is a 12 digit number given to the Employees Provident Fund Organization’s members and through this number, one can manage the provident fund accounts. This number is provided to each member by the Ministry of Employment and Labor. If the member has this UAN they can get all the PF related information, even if they change their jobs.

The Government of India has made it mandatory for the employees to link the UAN to the Aadhaar. Once the process is done, it will be easy for the employees to transfer and withdraw money from the Employees Provident Fund. The Government of India gives four ways to link UAN with Aadhaar. They are

UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) was developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to drive Mobile Governance in India. With this app, the citizens of India can access pan India e-Government services. Through this app, the employees can link Aadhaar to EPF. The following steps need to be taken.

  • Download the app from Google Play Store, App Store, or Windows store. You can also get a link to the app by giving a missed call to 97183-97183
  • Once the app is downloaded, go to All services
  • Under the All services tab select ‘EPFO’
  • Under the EPFO option, you will see eKYC services, select that
  • Once selected, you will see another option called Aadhaar seeding
  • There you will be asked for your UAN. Before starting the process, make sure that your mobile number is registered with EPFO
  • Once you provide the UAN, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number
  • Once the OTP is verified, you can add your Aadhaar details. Once the Aadhaar details have been provided, the app will send another OTP to verify the mobile number
  • Once the above process is completed and if your Aadhaar details and UAN details matches, the linking between UAN and Aadhaar will be complete
