The Supreme Court of India reiterated the Constitutional validity of Aadhaar while clarifying on it being mandatory for a few services like ITR filing, insurance policies, high value transactions, etc. It also declared that it is no longer mandatory for bank accounts, mobile connections, school admissions and other similar services. However, linking Aadhaar with your mobile number has various benefits. It facilitates convenient OTP verifications for various other services you would like to avail. You will not be required to submit a physical copy of your Aadhaar for ID proof and Address proof. Various online services can be availed without having to visit the offices in person.

  • They had to verify whether they were resident Indians or NRIs.
  • Resident Indians were asked to enter their 12 digit Aadhaar number.
  • They will then verify the repeated Aadhaar number and press 1 to confirm.
  • Then enter the mobile number registered with the Aadhaar to receive OTP.
  • It will ask for a consent to allow the telecom operator to verify their details from the Aadhaar database.

  • Once the re-verification is complete, a confirmation SMS is sent to the user
