Earlier, the government of India has made it compulsory to link mobile numbers with Aadhaar. The deadline set at that time was 31st March 2018. But, the Supreme Court stayed this order, and right now, it’s not mandatory to link Aadhaar with mobile numbers. However, if you wish to link your Aadhaar with your Tata Docomo mobile connection, this guide will give you step-by-step instructions.

Linking your Aadhaar card with your mobile is free and easy to do. You can choose any one of the following three methods.

Method 1: Link Aadhaar to Tata Docomo Visit a nearby Tata Docomo store

The first method requires you to visit a Tata Docomo store near you. Make sure to carry a self-attested copy of your Aadhaar card along with you while visiting the store. Here are the steps to follow:

Step 1: Locate a Tata Docomo store near you.

Step 2: Provide a copy of your Aadhaar card and provide your mobile number to the customer care executive at the store.

Step 3: The executive processes your request and sends an OTP to your Tata Docomo mobile number.

Step 4: The executive will ask you to provide this OTP for verification.

Step 5: Next, the executive will take your fingerprints for authentication.

Step 6: You can leave the store. Look for a message on your mobile within the next 48 hours, confirming your request to link your Docomo number with Aadhaar.

Step 7: Reply “Y” to confirm the linking.

Step 8: Once your mobile number has been re-verified with Aadhaar, you will receive a confirmation message stating the same within the next 24 hours.

Method 2: Link Aadhaar to Tata Docomo by OTP-based Call

You can link Aadhaar with your Tata Docomo mobile number using this method in just a few minutes. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Ring the toll-free number 14546, from the Tata Docomo number you want to link with Aadhaar.

Step 2: You will be required to confirm your resident status before you begin the process.

Step 3: Once you have confirmed that you are an Indian, you will be prompted to press 1 to begin the linking process.

Step 4: Next, you will have to key in your 12-digit Aadhaar card number.

Step 5: You will be asked to provide your confirmation once again by pressing 1.

Step 6: Next, you will be asked to enter the last four digits of your Tata Docomo mobile number.

Step 7: You will receive an OTP immediately via text to the mobile number you have registered with UIDAI.

Step 8: You have to enter the OTP to complete the authentication.

Step 9: You will receive a confirmation message stating that your Tata Docomo number is linked with your Aadhaar.

Method 3: Link Aadhaar to Tata Docomo using the Tata Docomo Mobile App

Subscribers of Tata Docomo can re-verify their mobile number using Aadhaar via the mobile app provided to Tata Docomo. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Install the Tata Docomo app on your smartphone, if you don’t already have it. Make sure that the app is updated and runs the current version.

Step 2: Select the e-KYC tab in the app.

Step 3: Enter your 10-digit Tata Docomo number for confirmation. Next, you will be prompted to enter your 12-digit unique Aadhaar number.

Step 4: Make sure to double-check the details you have entered before tapping on submit.

Step 5: You will receive an OTP on the mobile number that you have registered with Aadhaar.

Step 6: Enter the OTP in the app for confirmation.

Step 7: You will receive a confirmation message stating that your Tata Docomo number has been re-verified using your Aadhaar.


1. Does Tata Docomo charge a fee for linking Aadhaar with the mobile number?

No. This service is available to all Tata Docomo users – postpaid and prepaid – for free.

2. Should I bring my original Aadhaar card to the store for in-store verification?

No. You just have to carry a self-attested copy of your Aadhaar card.

3. I have multiple Tata Docomo numbers. Should I re-verify each mobile connection separately?

Once verification is complete, your Tata Docomo number is linked with Aadhaar. There is no need to re-verify, as it’s valid indefinitely.
