Benefits of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Supply

There are many benefits of Piped Natural Gas and Compressed Natural Gas as compared to the traditional fuels or sources of energy. Some of such benefits to the Residential, Commercial and Industrial sector are mentioned below.

PNG

  • PNG is more affordable and a cheaper source of energy as compared to LPG or other similar options.
  • It is also a cleaner and safer energy source with modern capabilities like auto shut off. As there is no need for storage of the gas at the consumer’s premises, there is lesser fear of leakage. Also PNG being lighter than air, it dissipates rapidly and thus reduces the chances of immediate combustion.
  • The consumer is not troubled with the hassles of keeping track of the cylinders and booking a refill well in advance for uninterrupted supply of energy source. PNG ensures a steady supply of gas to the consumers and AGL has a good reputation (almost 100%) for ensuring a steady supply of natural gas to its consumers.
  • PNG for commercial use has a variety of applications like heating, power generation, cooking, etc.
  • Also PNG ensures that there is no adulteration to the fuel supplied to the consumers which is a common problem with many such liquid fuels.
  • There are no chances of spillage or theft as the gas is supplied steadily through the pipes as well as reduction in storage costs that would have been otherwise to be incurred in case of other liquid fuels like LPG.
  • The maintenance cost of appliances is also reduced as there is no accumulate of soot or as or grease on the surface.
  • There are other value added benefits like carbon credit which can be earned by using a cleaner fuel.

CNG

  • CNG is considered to be a green fuel and it reduces the harmful emissions. It enables in reducing the pollutions levels in the long run
  • It is a safer source of energy with almost nil chances of leakage and spillage with high gauge cylinders.
  • It is another cost effective fuel source and thus makes it a cost effective option for the consumers to run their vehicles on CNG.
  • Another added advantage is the compatibility i.e., the vehicle can run on both CNG and Petrol.
  • CNG has high ignition temperature and limited flammability range and this ensures reduced chances of accidental combustion
