Introduction

Indraprastha Gas, popularly known as IGL, was incorporated in the year 1998 and later took over the Delhi City Gas Distribution from GAIL (formerly known as Gas Authority of India Limited) in the year 1999. The company provides natural gas supply to the residents of Delhi for domestic, commercial and industrial purposes. GAIL and BPCL are the promoters of IGL and the ultimate goal of IGL is to provide natural gas to the capital region.

The company provides Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to domestic customers, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to commercial customers and R-LNG to the industrial sector.

Objectives of IGL

IGL was set up with a set of clear objectives that are the driving force for the organization. The objectives of IGL are mentioned below.

  • To provide natural gas that is safe, dependable and suitable for domestic and commercial sectors
  • To provide a better and cleaner option for auto fuel that will help in reducing the pollution in the areas of Delhi NCT. These areas include the following places

Documents needed for a New IGL Connection

Customers will have to provide a set of basic KYC documents to complete the application process. Following are the documents that are to be submitted by the customers at the time of applying for a new connection.

  • Identity Proof of the Applicant (Ration Card, Aadhaar Card, Voter ID)
  • Address Proof of the Applicant (Aadhaar Card, Ration Card, Recent Electricity Bill/ Telephone Bill, Passport)
  • Ownership Proof of the Applicant (Copy of Electricity Bill/Telephone Bill, House Tax Receipt, First 5 pages of Sales Deed)

IGL New Connection

The customers can apply for a new connection by calling the customer care of the company at the helpline number 1800 102 5109.  The other way to apply for a new connection is to make an online application through the website of IGL (iglonline[dot]net)

  • The next step is to click on the following link, “Home Our Business PNG New Connection.”
  • The user will be directed to a new page where he/she will have to click on the link ‘new connection’ which will further take the user to another page.
  • The applicant will have to fill in all the required details and submit the application for further processing.
  • The applicants can alternatively, download the form from the website and submit the same at Indraprastha Gas Center after duly filling it.

After procuring the connection, the applicant will have to make a payment of Rs. 6,000 (Rs. 5,000 for installation + Rs. 1,000 for gas consumption) which is an interest free security deposit and is refundable at the time of cancellation of connection. The amount can be paid by cheque or demand draft issued in favour of Indraprastha Gas Limited.

How to transfer or make corrections to KYC of an IGL connection?

IGL facilitates easy transfer of connection or change in the name of the owner of the connection in the following format.

  • For change in the name of the owner (in case of minor spelling errors), the customer can send an email regarding the same updatekyc[at]igl[dot]co[dot]in.
  • The email has to be sent through the registered email id providing the details of the change sought.
  • The customer will receive a reply within 5 working days.
  • In case of change or transfer of ownership of the connection, the customer will have to provide the following set of documents along with an application for such change. 
    • IGL registration form that is duly filled and signed by the customer
    • Identity proof (Copy of Aadhaar Card/Voter ID/PAN Card/Driving License/Passport)
    • NOC/Declaration/undertaking on a notarized Stamp paper of Rs. 100 in the format available at the website
    • Type A is a jointly signed NOC of previous and current owner
    • Type B is a declaration by the current owner in the event of non availability of NOC from the previous owner
    • Type C is for affidavit by the next kin of the previous owner in the event of hi/her death
  • Ownership Proof 
    • Copy of Registered Sale Deed/ Registered Conveyance Deed/Registered GPA (First 6 Pages)
    • Copy of Latest Electricity bills (not older than 3 months)
    • Copy of Mutation/Relinquishment Deed issued by government revenue department (MCD/Municipal Corporation)
  • In the event of the existing connection holder, the following documents will have to be submitted as well
    • Death certificate of the gas connection holder
    • Copy of latest registered will
    • Copy of Mutation issued by government revenue department (MCD/Municipal Corporation)
    • NOC for transfer of existing connection from other legal heirs (in case of multiple heirs in registered will).
