It enjoys a loyal customer base of more than 85 million customers, who are serviced through a huge network of over 6000 pan-India distributors. What are the ways to get a new HP Gas connection?

Customers can get a new connection of HP Gas easily through the nearest local distributor by submitting an application form and a list of required documents. Customers can locate the nearest distributor of HP Gas Agency with a simple search for the same on the official website of HP Gas (myhpgas[dot]in).

The other mode of application is through online application. Besides booking a new connection online, customers can also request for a refill cylinder online using any one of the following methods.  Customers can use any of the following methods to make an online application for a new connection or for a refill.

  • Applying through the mobile app ‘HP Gas’

Documents for Acquiring a New HP Gas Connection

The documents required for a new connection of HP Gas are basic KYC documents. Customers will have to provide the following documents that will be needed to authenticate or validate the identity and address of the applicant.

Address Proof

The applicant can provide any of the following documents as address proof for the purpose of a new connection.

  • Aadhaar Card
  • Passport
  • Ration Card
  • Voter’s Identity Card
  • Employer's Certificate
  • Latest Electricity Bill (within Last Three Months)
  • Latest Landline Telephone Bill (Within Last Three Months)
  • Flat allotment / possession letter from Builder

Identity Proof 

The applicant can submit any of the following documents as identity proof for a new connection.

  • Aadhaar Card
  • Driving License
  • PAN Card

  • Voter’s Identity Card
  • Central/State Government Issued ID cards
  • Bank Passbook with Photograph

Certain States and Union territories specifically require the ration card to be submitted by the applicants for a new connection to be issued.

Cost of a New HP Gas Connection

Applicants can easily request a new connection by applying for the same directly to the distributor or making an online application. As per the guidelines of LPG usage for domestic use, consumers are allowed only one LPG connection per household. Multiple connections have to be submitted by the customer at the earliest. The customers will get the following against a single LPG connection.

  • Two Double Bottle Cylinder (DBC)
  • One Regulator

The cost for getting a new connection is mentioned below.

  • Deposit for Two Cylinders (Rs. 1,450 each) – Rs. 2,900
  • Deposit for Each Cylinder for North eastern States is Rs. 1,150 each. 
  • Price for Regulator – (Refundable deposit for One Regulator) – Rs. 150
  • The cost will also include the cost for two refills (the current applicable price for the cylinder depending on the location of the customer is to be considered)

Besides the above fixed cost, the customers will also be charged for any Suraksha LPG Hose or hotplate or stove in case such purchase is made by them. The customer will also be charged for the installation and inspection of the LPG connection. The Stamp Duty charges wherever applicable will be on the basis of actual charges to be paid.

Process for Transfer of HP Gas Connection

HP gas facilitates the customers to get easy transfer of their existing HP gas connection if the customer has to relocate to another place. This transfer facility is available even if the customer is relocating within the same city or outside.

The process for transfer of connection is detailed below.

Transfer within the city or adjoining city

  • The customer will have to surrender the original Subscription Voucher (SV) along with the transfer request.
  • The customer will be issued an e-Customer Transfer Advice (e-CTA) which is an authorization code.
  • This e-CTA will be valid for a period of 3 months.
  • The customer will have to present the e-CTA to the new distributor. The new distributor will enroll the customer, endorse the SV and return it to the customer.
  • This document has to be kept safe by the customer for future reference.
  • Since the transfer is within the same city, the customer can retain the cylinder and regulator instead of returning them.

Transfer for all other cases

  • The customer will have to surrender the existing equipment (cylinder and regulator) to the distributor of the previous location
  • The distributor will issue a Termination Voucher and refund the deposit amount originally paid by the customer.
  • The customer can retain the DGCC (Domestic Gas Consumer Card) and use the same with the new distributor.
  • The Termination Voucher (TV) is valid for a period of one year.
  • The new connection can be availed after making the payment for the same along with the deposit.
