Details of PNB Car Loan

The PNB car loans are designed to assist the retail and corporate customers in purchasing new cars or used/old cars (less than 3 year old) or even reimbursing the cost of new car purchased by the applicant out of his/her own funds (within 3 months of such purchase). The bank does not offer loans for purchase of vehicles for commercial use. Some of the details of the car loans offered by the bank are given below.

  • Eligibility – 

The bank offers car loans to individual borrowers or to business concerns for purchase of vehicles for personal use only. The bank has set minimum income criterion for such borrowers to be at least Rs. 20,000 (whether it is monthly salary/net income/pension).

The bank also allows including the income of the spouse/parents/earning children to be included to ascertain the income eligibility of the applicant provided such person is also considered as a co-applicant/co-borrower.

  • Amount of loan to be sanctioned – 

The bank has set different loan limits for individual borrowers and for business concerns. Following are the details for the same.

For individual borrowers/ proprietorship concerns – Lower of,

    Rs. 100 Lakhs,

25 times the net monthly salary/pension of the borrower.

For business concerns – The Bank has set no limit for the amount of loan that can be sanctioned to the business concerns (whether corporate or non-corporate) for purchase of single or multiple vehicles.

  • Rate of Interest – 

The bank has floating rate as well fixed rate of interest applicable on the PNB vehicle/Car loans. The final applicable rate of interest depends up on the credit score of the applicant, the banks policy or guidelines in place, relationship with the bank, etc.

The average rate of interest applicable on the car loans ranges from 8.75% to 9.20%.

Grievance Redressal

The grievance redressal process of the bank is a well-defined and systematic process detailing the information that the customers have to furnish while reporting any complaint or grievance as well as the levels of escalation hat they can use in order to get a thorough resolution for their grievance or redressal.

Following is the grievance redressal process of PNB.

  • The very first point of contact for the customers to address their grievance or issue is the Branch Manager or the customer care of the bank. Customers can submit a duly filled prescribed complaint form at the Branch and get an acknowledgement for the same. Customer care of the bank can also assist in the same. The website of the bank has a separate portal as well for the customers to track the status of their complaint/grievance so filed.
  • Level 1 – 

The customers can escalate the complaint or grievance to the first level of escalation available within the grievance redressal system of the bank i.e. the Circle Head of the Bank, in case the response is not received from the Branch Manager or if the response is not satisfactory.   • Level 2 – 

If however, the customer feels that the response from the Circle Head is also not to the best possible standard or satisfactory or if no response is received in this case as well, he/she can escalate their complaint to the Zonal Manager of the Bank. 1. Does the PNB Car loan scheme include car loans for commercial use?

The bank has specifically mentioned that the eligible persons can avail car loans provided it is for personal use only. Thus the bank does not allow car loans for commercial use under the PNB car loan scheme.

2. In what cases does the bank waive off the requirement for third party guarantee?

The bank requires third party guarantees in all the cases for approving the car loans except in the following cases,

  • Permanent employees of Central Government/ State Government / PSUs/ MNCs/ Listed Companies at BSE or NSE (whose Shares are actively traded and quoted above par).
  • For non-salaried class borrowers where ex–showroom cost of the car is more than Rs. 6,00,000.

3. What are the prepayment charges on loans that have floating rate of interest?

The car loans of the bank that have floating rate of interest are not subject to any prepayment charges levied by the bank.

4. What is the maximum loan that can be sanctioned for business class?

The bank has set no limit for the maximum loan that can be sanctioned in case of business class.

5. Can the vehicle purchased be hypothecated by the bank?

The bank has a lien on the vehicle so purchased out of the loan. The bank thus has a right to hypothecate the vehicle in the event of non-payment of the loan dues.
