How to Apply for a Colour Voter ID in India?

Voter ID is issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI). It is issued to all the eligible citizens of the country over the age of 18 years. The voter card is issued for life and is valid for the lifetime of the voter. However, the voter can apply for any changes in the voter card by filling the requisite form either online or offline by visiting the nearest Local Electoral Office.

  • Photo

The ECI has recently launched a colour version of the voter ID. These voter IDs are available in a new and redesigned form. The background of these cards includes the colour scheme of our tricolor along with the coloured photograph of the card holder.

The new colour Voter ID cards are available in new crisp plastic form at the Local Electoral Office to all the existing voters at a nominal fee of just Rs. 30. New applicants are issued the coloured voter ID upon new application or application for any modifications in the existing voter ID.
