Your dispute investigation will take up to 30 days to complete. Equifax reports information as per the details provided by the Institutions in the Data Submission. A bureau cannot modify any information in the database unless they get a confirmation from the banks. A dispute will be raised with the concerned bank or NBFC, and Equifax will update you once they get the confirmation.

If you had initiated your dispute request online and received a confirmation number, Equifax will periodically email you the status, until they’ve completed the investigation. You can also log into your Equifax account and view your status by clicking on “check status of a dispute” tab. If you check your status by mail or phone, make sure you have the confirmation number that was provided to you when you submitted your dispute. If you are not satisfied with the results of your dispute, you may contact your financial institution directly.
