Introduction

Women in India are worshipped and play a crucial role in the upliftment and development of the society. They have even played a crucial role in the Independence struggle. However, even today women have to face many hardships and are subject to many atrocities like child marriages, child trafficking, female infanticide, maternal mortality and many more such heinous situations that have no place in a civilized society. These atrocities are also due to the lack of women empowerment and upliftment of women in every walk of life.

Women even today do not get equal education opportunities or have a say in the family matters especially in financial matters. The Government of India has over the decades made many changes in its policies and brought many schemes that strive for the upliftment or betterment of women in our country.
