How does the Paytm FASTag work?
It is very simple to use your Paytm FASTag.
- Purchase a Paytm FASTag linking it to your Paytm wallet
- Affix Paytm FASTag on your car windscreen
- When you cross a toll plaza, the FASTag is automatically read by the scanner and the money is deducted from your Paytm wallet
Radio-Frequency Identification Technology (RFID) is used by Paytm FASTag. By paying Rs.500, you can buy it online via the Paytm website or app. It will take the FASTag 24 to 48 business hours to get enabled after it has been issued. It will be linked to your Paytm Payments Bank account and Paytm Wallet. The sticker will be attached to the windscreen of your car after activation.
The RFID readers mounted at the booth will check the details in the tag as soon as you reach a toll collection booth on the National Highways. The relevant toll amount will automatically be debited from your Paytm wallet upon successful reading of the tag. Once the balance is debited automatically, a payment SMS will be sent to your registered mobile number. The boom barrier will then automatically open and you will be able to drive through the toll plaza without stopping.

How to buy Paytm FASTag?
Please follow the below steps to buy your Paytm FASTag online:
Step 1: Visit the official website of Paytm FASTag at https://Paytm.com/FASTag. Click on the ‘Buy Now’ button.
Step 2: Sign in with the registered mobile number and password of Paytm to your Paytm Mall account.
Step 3: Enter your vehicle registration number. You will be required to upload a scanned copy of your vehicle RC.
Step 4: Verify your delivery address.
Step 5: Click on the ‘Buy for Rs.500’ button which will take you to the payment page.
Step 6: Choose your preferred payment method to complete the purchase process.
Delivery & Activation Process
- After validation of the vehicle RC scans submitted by you, FASTag will be activated. Once the request has been successfully completed, the FASTag will be sent to your delivery address.
- A FASTag sub-wallet will be generated and loaded with the appropriate threshold amount after activation.
- Remove the adhesive strip and carefully place the tag in the middle of the windshield of your vehicle (from the inside of the front mirror).
- Add money to the Paytm wallet to make it easier for all NHAI toll plazas to automatically deduct applicable toll charges.

How to manage your Paytm FASTag?
Managing your Paytm FASTag is very simple. Once your Paytm FASTag is activated, a sub-wallet is created under your Paytm account. You can click on this sub-wallet to manage your FASTag account.
- You can see Tag-wise transaction details of all toll payments
- You can check the activation status of each FASTag that is linked to your Wallet
- You can use the Toggle button to enable instant suspension or reactivation of your FASTag
In order to recharge your Paytm FASTag, you just have to add money to your Paytm wallet. It will automatically reserve an amount for the FASTag. There is no need for separate recharge of your Paytm FASTag.

- Stopped at the plaza for Tag blacklist reason even though Tag is not blacklisted.
- Plaza is not accepting FASTag
- Plaza is not able to read the Tag
- Plaza is not supporting monthly pass issuance
- Any other applicable issue for FASTag
Paytm FASTag: Points To Remember
- Cashback is applicable for eligible customers only.
- Cashback is applicable only on National Highways Toll Plaza transactions.
- The cashback amount of 2.5% is applicable for FY 2019-2020 only.
- This scheme is intended to drive India's digital payments sector. Any intentional or unintentional misuse or manipulation would make the consumer ineligible for the cashback.

1. What is Paytm FASTag?
Paytm FASTag is a prepaid reloadable tag that will be placed on the front windshield in the center of your car. It allows you to move freely via Toll Plazas without stopping and it will automatically deduct related toll charges from your Paytm wallet. The tag is based on RFID technology and is a part of the Government of India initiative.
2. What should I do if an incorrect amount is debited from my Paytm FASTag wallet?
Please contact Paytm customer care at FASTag@Paytm .com immediately. Attach a screenshot of the transaction and they will get back to you with the solution at the earliest.
3. How is the cashback on FASTag transactions calculated?
Paytm offers 2.5% Cashback on all toll transactions done at NHAI plazas for the financial year 2019-20. This cashback amount for a particular month will be credited to your FASTag linked Paytm Wallet by end of the subsequent month (as one single payment).
4. How do I close my FASTag?
If you wish to cancel or surrender your FASTag, you need to call Paytm customer care at toll-free number: 1800-102-6480. Provide them with your mobile number against which the tag has been registered, along with the Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) or Tag ID. Upon verification of all the details, the customer support agent will close your Paytm FASTag. In the meanwhile, the tag can also be suspended from the "Manage Tags" section in your FASTag sub-wallet.
5. My Paytm FASTag is not working. It says Tag Blacklisted/Low Balance/Suspended. What should I do?
Kindly ensure that you have an active tag. Check the status under the "Manage Tags" section in your FASTag sub-wallet. Make sure that you have a sufficient amount in your FASTag wallet - at least Rs.150 for Car/Jeep/Van in your Paytm FASTag wallet. If the problem is still unresolved you can contact Paytm at FASTag@Paytm .com or call them on their FASTag Toll-free number - 1800-102-6480.
6. Can I transfer the FASTag if I am selling my vehicle to another person?
FASTag cannot be transferred to another person. If you are selling the vehicle or not going to use it anymore, please ensure the FASTag that you used for the vehicle is closed. You need to call Paytm customer care at toll-free number 1800-102-6480. Provide them with your mobile number against which the tag has been registered along with the Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) or Tag ID.
7. What do I do if my Paytm FASTag is not read by the scanner at the toll plaza?
In case the tag reader of the plaza is not working, no need to worry. You may pay the toll in cash and pass through the toll plaza. You can reach out to NHAI on their toll-free number - 1033 for resolving the issue. In case the tag is not pasted correctly on the vehicle and so is unable to be read by the scanner, the customer may request the toll plaza worker to use the handheld device to read the tag and pass through the toll plaza. Or he may also choose to pay the toll by cash and then later affix the FASTag correctly.
