Union Bank of India FASTag program is part of the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) initiative rolled out by NPCI under the aegis of NHAI and IHMCL. It is being hailed as the perfect solution for a hassle-free trip on national highways.

Union Bank of India is a designated bank authorized to issue FASTags to applicants. It offers a number of benefits to its FASTag customers:

  • Cashless Payments: One of the best advantages of FASTag is the electronic payment method removing the need to carry cash and tendering exact change at the toll booths. The transaction will be cashless and money will be automatically debited from your FASTag wallets enabling you to save a lot of time and fuel.
  • Instant transaction alerts through SMS: Whenever a transaction is carried out at any toll plaza, you will receive SMS alerts on your registered mobile numbers. You will also receive alerts for low balance in your FASTag wallet enabling you to keep track of your account balance.
  • Online Recharge: Users can conveniently recharge their tag account online or at any of the POS points at toll plazas. They can use a credit card, debit card, Netbanking or UPI apps to make payments.
  • Faster movement on the highway: When your vehicle approaches the toll plaza, the tag reader installed in the toll gates reads your FASTag and automatically deducts the corresponding toll charges from your tag wallet. This greatly reduces the waiting time in every toll plaza.
  • Web portal for tag holders: FASTag users can create an account on the online portal to manage their tag account without any hassles. They can check various things like tag balance, transactions and account information on this online portal.
  • Cashback offer: Users can get a cashback of 2.5% on all toll payments using FASTag up to March 31, 2020

About Union Bank of India FASTag

FASTag program is part of the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) initiative rolled out by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), under the guidelines of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Indian Highways Management Company Ltd (IHMCL).

FASTags were introduced with the objective of doing away with those long queues at toll plazas. FASTag is enabled by Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), which has to be affixed to the windscreen of your car, allows for electronic toll deduction from a prepaid wallet and lets you cruise through the toll gates. You do not have to wait to make cash transaction at the toll plaza, thus, removing the hassle of carrying cash for toll payments.

These FASTags can be pre-loaded with money and used to pay for your vehicle toll payments electronically. When the vehicle passes through the toll gate, the RFID reader at the toll plaza receives information about the vehicle and the toll amount is deducted automatically from the FASTag wallet, thus saving valuable time & money for the users.

FASTag is currently accepted at 460+ Electronic Toll Plaza across National Highways. Users can make use of the demarcated ETC FASTag lanes at the toll plaza and get the toll fee directly deducted from their FASTag wallet. This has saved an enormous amount of time and fuel to all its users. They also need not worry about carrying cash for the toll payments. The NETC system is inter-operable and the same FASTag can be used across all toll plazas under the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) program. Planning is underway to include more toll plazas under the ambit of FASTag.
