H1 – How To Download e-PAN In 10 Mins?

Applicants who have applied for a new PAN Card or those who have submitted changes to their existing PAN can download the e-PAN in 10 minutes. This facility is available with both NSDL and the UTIITSL portals.

We will briefly discuss both the processes for your convenience. Before we start, let us understand PAN and its importance.

What Is A PAN Card? How Is It Useful?

Permanent Account Number (PAN) is an identification document issued to Indian taxpayers. A PAN Card is a national identification card issued by the Indian Income Tax Department (I-T).

A PAN number is a 10-digit alphanumeric code that is used to group together all of an individual's IT transactions. Tax payments, TDS/TCS credits, and other similar transactions of financial nature.

PAN is important for the economic well-being of our country. Since it is linked to an individual, it can be used as a proof of identity for financial transactions. By linking all financial transactions to a person's PAN, the government is able to track the flow of money and thus prevent tax evasion. PAN plays an important role in rooting out the menace of black money and money laundering.

In order to facilitate quick processing of PAN applications, the government has 2 prominent portals - the NSDL & the UTIITSL. Applicants can apply for PAN through these portals online and get them approved in less than a week.

Once approved, applicants are notified of their PAN number by SMS and email. Using their new PAN number, applicants can easily download their e-PAN document while they are waiting for their physical PAN card to be delivered by post.
